| Descriptions of all Exam Subjects.
Small LIVE class tutor groups 5 - 15 students. Exam preparation up to 17yrs First College students live in the UK, in Europe or Asia. We do not provide specific, regular lessons in religion. The policy of the school is to train a sophisticated acceptance of different religions in our own mixed community. However we do teach ABOUT religions, both as topics arising naturally in class discussion, or in everyday conversation. We also use our exciting PHILOSOPHY & SOCIETY seminar series on Mondays, to hold a single session about one religion at a time, though these seminars also go into many other kinds of topics. Over all our approach is to teach a mature multifaith courtesy and tolerance, without stifling individual opinions and faith. We believe that everyone has a personal spirituality, focused on what they most deeply care about, though they might not use the label 'spirituality.' To date we have successfully welcomed several different kinds of Christian, including Jehovah's Witness, Friends, Roman Catholic, and variations on Church of England. We have also welcomed Buddhist, Hindu, Bahai'i, Pagan, Muslim, Atheist, Rational Humanist and other less well defined ways of faith. To us this is a natural part of any unspecialised community of study. Please do let us know if you feel religion or spirituality affects your family values significantly so that you can make sure we know how to respect it properly in dealing with you or your child. |
