Exam preparation up to 17yrs First College students live in the UK, in Europe or Asia. Geography can lead to career paths in town planning, engineering, graphic design and applied mathematics. More generally it trains analytical thinking, a grasp of graphical analogues, and a capacity to view and handle large scale categorisation. It is typically enjoyed more by science and maths oriented students, but arts and humanities' students can also do well at it.  FIRST CLASS Young students or students who have had problems are placed in the FIRST CLASS, or basic level.
HOMEWORK for FIRST CLASS GEOGRAPHY is 45 mins a week. SENIORS Students with good study skills move up to the intermediate SENIORS level - always an exciting change.Why is the landscape the shape it is? What has shaped it, in the billions of years since the world was formed as a ball of cooling rock orbiting around the sun? The events that shaped our world are huge processes that have happened over long, long periods of time. They are still happening now and affecting our lives and our future. Why are human settlements the way they are? How did villages, towns and cities develop? What functions do their various parts fulfil, and how has this shaped them? What changes are likely to occur in the future, as a result of phenomena like global warming? We look at geography in terms of the classic division between physical, human and economic geography. By using a mixture of textbook study, web research, and project work, and by drawing insights from traditional geography, town planning, and the history of human settlements, students learn a much deeper understanding of the physical world they live in. HOMEWORK for SENIORS' GEOGRAPHY is 1 hour a week. SCHOLARS The exam program, "Scholars" ~ prepares for the prestigious IGCSE exams. These are better quality exams than ordinary GCSEs, and universally recognised.The exam program is a minimum of 5 terms of study (there are 3 school terms a year). There are two exam sessions for Geography. Paper 1. HOMEWORK 1.5 hours weekly. Involves short, formal questions and essay work. Descriptions of all Exam Subjects.
