Go down to subject descriptions
The exam program, "Scholars" ~ prepares for the prestigious IGCSE exams. These are better quality exams than ordinary GCSEs, and universally recognised.
The exam program is a minimum of 5 terms of study (there are 3 school terms a year).
EXAM COSTS A set of exam textbooks are required which will cost between £50 and £100 in all. All are available on Amazon. Some Maths equipment is also required. Your local Exam Centre will charge you a fee per exam.
The standard exam package is 5 subjects including the 2 Required courses English and Maths. The aim of the exam program is a happy student capable of gaining A*/ A/ B/ or C grades. This may mean the Standard package of 3 additional Options to the 2 Required subjects; or for a struggling student fewer Options. Stronger students may take more than 3 Option subjects, providing they can definitely demonstrate the necessary abilities.
Exam students go through 3 stages. Stage 1: Settling in, assessing the size of individual exam package to suit ability. 1-2 terms. Stage 2. Completing most of the work required. Taking one (occasionally two) actual exams for practice. 2-3 terms. Stage 3. Final assessment for exam targets. Full completion, with retake of the practice exam if desired. Intensive support EVERY DAY over the last month. 1 term.
We can continue working with students until 18yrs to achieve the best results possible.

sapphire EXAM SUPPORT Students receive intensive support as part of the standard exam program. This is especially thorough during the last month when they are given a day by day work plan with how many hours of work to do, which subject , and most importantly when to take time off so as not to get exhausted. The individual Plan adapts to the personality iof the student, and also covers sleep pattern, and diet guidance.
For the last few days and actual exam days there is detailed support on exactly what to do so that a student may complain of a paint the boxes feeling! - but nerves are greatly reduced and success is maximised.
We have had students tell us that it was almost embarrassing NOT being nervous, and saying "Oh the exam itself was exactly how you said it would be so I knew just what to do."
Exams if well prepared by teachers who know their job, and students who complete work set adequately - should be almost boring!

1. Happy students. 2. 95% homework completion. 3. High exam results IGCSE.
Each exam involves taking TWO exam sessions.
All students attend the Monday seminar "Philosophy & Society."

Why is it called "First College" when it's a high school or secondary school?
We train a strongly collegiate style of studying so that the student learns to take responsibility for their own work and deadlines. It means the transfer to later qualifications, University, or (self) employment is much easier as a result.

First College UK is very much a family business.
We created it to educate our own son, who is now
a junior online teacher in the school! (under strict supervision)

CRB checks (Standard Level) on all teachers;
DP registration (Notification reference: jvl530);
Please do ask for any of this to be explained.
