Our young people have to live in an increasingly complex society.
Complexity by its nature, does not arise through one influence but through many.
Our Monday seminars in Philosophy and Society examine the impact of –
– the internet and information processing;
– ecology, conservation, global warming, innovative technologies;
– economic globalisation, one world thinking;
– world organisations like NATO the UN, EU, WTO;
– new laws changing our everyday life; how laws are made;
– different cultures, immigration, minorities;
– new medical and health options, cyborg futures;
– equality for women, the disabled, and racial groups;
– personal morality and responsibility issues in a changing world;
– Philosophy (analytical thinking) and religious movements;
– arts, music and culture of the 21st century;
– 21st century children and young people. |
Students who wish to do so are invited to carry out projects in their own choice of subject areas.
These projects could involve artwork, essay writing, practical research by interviewing sources, internet research, creating a website, or any other form the Student chooses.
